Cycling Advocacy: Lance
reports that there were
about 50 cyclist in
attendance (AA, PP, RW,
Tahoe-Pyramid
Bikeway) at the
interagency meeting with
law enforcement (Reno
PD, Sparks PD, Washoe
Sheriff, NHP). A
3-point plan was
discussed to help
improve the safety of
cyclists on the road.
--Meetings once a
month
--Lobby the state
legislature to raise
penalties for hitting
cyclists and pedestrians
--Create and air
Public Service
Announcements
--Lobby judges and
DAs to toughen the laws
--Make
Reno/Sparks/Carson City
a cycle-friendly
community
--Try to get a new
law requiring cars give
cyclist 3' of space when
passing
Pat Hambright at Channel
8 news wants to help
with the PSAs. Lance
says the ball is rolling
and good things are
starting to happen.
Product Sponsorship:
Justin reports that he
only got 2 Clif orders,
4 Ritchey orders, and 4
Specialized orders
total. The Ridley offer
is still on the table,
but it doesn't look like
we will make the 10
frame minimum. The
Board approved bike
purchases by Paul Miers
(service provided by
doing club taxes) and
Peter Briant (more
service to be provided
in the future).
Women's Clothing: Jenny
reports that 22 women
ordered clothing, plus
some extras. The
clothing will be here in
2 weeks. There is also
a new women's yahoo
email list that has been
started. Jenny will get
the information to Pete
so he can put a
link/signup blurb on the
website.
Race Reimbursement: The
Board reconsidered the
rejected (and
re-submitted) request
for reimbursement from
the last meeting (Betonte)
and approved partial
reimbursement of 25% for
races plus the clothing
reimbursement ($220
total).
Treasurer's Report:
$2000 spent on women's
clothing. Full
treasurer's report from
Justin next month.
Also, 24 new member apps
received in the last
month. Maybe look into
online member renewal
for next year?
Hidden Valley Bike
Course: No update.
This seems to have
stalled, need to light a
fire under John Marshall
and get the ball rolling
again.
DH Reno Downhill
Events: Randy and Steve
are interested in
putting on a Peavine
Challenge DH event.
They need help with
timing and officials,
but they will do course
setup, run shuttles,
etc. They will start
with a downhill event,
but would like to move
up to Super-D in the
future.
Microsoft Sponsorship:
Randy is waiting for
the new committees
to be seated at
Microsoft before
pleading our case.
Randy will also
check with Dave
Hartman and Andy
Palmer to get backup
on the commitment
Microsoft made to
the club for a
2-year sponsorship
deal.
Advertising on Club
Website: Matty
Larsen has requested
that the club add
links and
information on our
website for his new
bike mechanic
business. The Board
addressed the issue
and decided that any
club
shops/businesses can
put their
information on our
club shops page and
get their logo in
rotation on our
homepage. To become
a club
shop/business, they
have to either buy a
block of 50 race
tickets ($300) and
agree to sell them,
or make a $150
donation to the
club.
Twilight Insurance:
Pete has given the
MTB race schedule to
Shawn. Shawn still
needs the Road
Twilight schedule
from Rich so that he
can determine the
total number of
events and get the
insurance quote.

2008 Reimbursement

revisited the policy
for 2008 and made
some changes to
implement a tiered
policy, based on the
number of events
requested for

--Less than
5 events: meet all
previous
requirements and
work 1 club event
--5 to 10
events: meet all
previous
requirements and
work 2 club events
--Greater
than 10 events and
TeamRW clothing
reimbursement: meet
all previous
requirements and
work 3 club events
"Club Events" are
the following:
--District
TT

Challenge
--Tour de
Nez
--Any RW
Hill Climb TT Series
races
--Any RW Cyclocross

In addition, helping
out at the Twilight
MTB or Road races
also earns credit,
with 2 Twilight
races = 1 event.
UNR Collegiate

held April 26 and
27. There will be a
USCF crit in
conjunction with
this on Sunday
morning, April 27.
