Board of Directors in attendance: Lance Molinari, Spencer Ericksen, Shawn Pearson, Justin Thomas, Darin Olde, Randy Riegel
Next Club Meeting: 2/11/08, Walden's Coffee, 6:00 p.m.
Topics of this Meeting:
Cycling Advocacy: Lance reports that there will be a meeting with all law enforcement agencies and all bike groups on Feb. 5 at 3 p.m., place TBD, to discuss the issues, with (hopefully) a Public Service Announcement to follow. Rich Paul has offered to help with the PSA.
Product Sponsorship: Special pricing from Clif, Ritchey, Specialized, and Ridley. Justin reports limited interest so far, so maybe extend window of opportunity a few more weeks.
Treasurer's Report: Secretary/Treasurer duties are being transitioned to Justin Thomas.
Storage Shed: Board approved renewal for 1 more year (pay through Feb 09).
Club Sponsorship: Randy will touch base with Microsoft for this year's $1000.00. Spencer will coordinate with SSSP (Andy) about this year's money.
Women's Clothing: No update.
Website: No update.
Reno Gazette Cycling article: A reporter from the RGJ has requested topics/contacts for possible cycling articles. Spencer will respond, suggesting Jenny for women's cycling, Pete for MTB, Rich P. for Twilight Road, and Jeff A. for local pro. Also, find out how to get our Twilight results printed in the paper.
Club Shop Policy: The Board decided to move to a pre-pay policy for race tickets. Any shop or business that wants to sell our tickets needs to pre-purchase tickets in blocks of 50 ($300). Rich will collect this when he drops off tickets, or the shop can send a check to the club treasurer. This eliminates any accounting issues on the back end, as all money is dealt with up front, and makes it much easier logistically to deal with the ticket sales. The shop keeps any unsold tickets at the end of the season, to be reused/sold the next season. In return, the shop or business gets their contact information on the club shops page of renowheelmen.org and their logo in rotation on the homepage. Rich will make the rounds of the club shops and pitch the new policy.
District TT: Mike Damon assumed to be running this again this year, Spencer will confirm.
Peavine Challenge: Scot Ferguson
TTT: Rich Paul
UNR Race Partnership: Probably no Northstar race (beat to the punch by Tour de Nez). Paco is still checking into alternatives, but this event is a big question mark at this point.
Road Twilight: Rich will put together the calendar and email it to the Board by the next meeting.
MTB Twilight: Pete will put together the calendar and email it to the Board by the next meeting.
Hill Climb TT Series Spencer will coordinate with Dave Eastwood, Rich Paul, and Mel Maalouf to start organizing four events (Geiger, 6-Mile, Rose, Kingsbury).
Permits/Insurance: Shawn Pearson will start working
Race Reimbursement Approvals: All requests that met the requirements were approved by the Board; one that did not was rejected. The reimbursement limits will be kept the same for 2008 ($7500 total), but the policy will be addressed/updated at the next meeting to include a stronger club service component.
